For everyone else unnecessary thought is but a distraction from ‘productivity.’

How can one survive primarily on being pleasing except in a time of stability, peace, and plenty? In medieval times, I don’t suppose there could have been that many openings for court jesters. Survival of the fittest is not just about reproducing and being attractive to the opposite sex – it’s literally often about staying alive. In modern society that is not a concern for 99% of us, so the people who can be fun and happy etc are the ones that go to the top. But what if serious hardship fell, and staying alive became the top priority again? Who would be better placed – the serious type, or the fun type? Who would females look for in a mate – someone who is fun to be around and party personality, or someone who can keep them alive?
